Akio Nagasawa Gallery Aoyama is pleased to announce the opening of "Hommage à Alaïa," an exhibition of works by Aurore de La Morinerie.
On display are precious original drawings of Aurore de La Morinerie’s creations for the fashion designer Azzedine Alaïa and his brand ALAÏA.
Aurore de La Morinerie is an artist/illustrator based in Paris. In addition to drawings using mainly water-color and ink, she has also been creating unique graphical monotypes with a traditional etching press. This exhibition combines works for which she printed monotypes originally made for Azzedine Alaïa onto Japanese washi paper, as well as works that were previously shown in the "Azzedine Alaïa" exhibition at the Palais Galliera Musée de la mode de la Ville de Paris in 2013. All items on display are shown for the first time in Asia.
We are looking forward to your visit to pay "Hommage à Alaïa" – at once the title that was chosen for this exhibition that commemorates the first anniversary of Alaïa’s death.
In conjunction with the exhibition, the book Hommage à Alaïa will be published as a limited and numbered edition of 900 copies. Next to works shown in this exhibition, the book features a text by Olivier Saillard, formerly director of the Musée de la mode de la Ville de Paris.
PART I of the exhibition features mainly monotypes, which will be replaced by displays of mainly drawings for PART II in the second half of the exhibition period.
PART I: From November 29th To January 23rd
