Signed/Binding:Twist hardcover book binding

The latest entry in a project series by publisher and designer Satoshi Machiguchi in which he lets contemporary Japanese photographers engage with works of Japanese literature in the space of a book. After collaborating with Daido Moriyama for the first three entries in the series, Machiguchi chose Sakiko Nomura for this fourth and latest issue. Ango Sakaguchi’s short story “The War and a Woman” was released in 1946 heavily censored by the GHQ (the offices of the Supreme Commander for the Allied Powers during the occupation of Japan). The publication “Sakiko Nomura: Ango” features the uncensored edition of “The War and a Woman”, released in 2000, and new photographs by Sakiko Nomura. “Sakiko Nomura: Ango” was first released in German in June 2017. The English edition will be published in July, followed by the release of the Japanese version on 15 August. ―Statement from the distributor
